Real jewellery enamel Soyer transparent turquoise 5g

Classic powder jewellery enamel, transparent. It’s applied as a paste (enamel with a couple of drops of water according to the amount) onto a metal foundation (copper or silver, ACS) and after drying, it’s fired in a kiln at 750 °C approx. two to three minutes, based on the size of the piece of tin. It’s good to quickly peek into the kiln and the moment the enamel turns from powder to a smooth surface, it’s done. Enamels can be fired repeatedly, in several layers. On the back side, contremail should be applied and fired. We fire this firstly and therefore use a three-pronged firing stand for further firing, in order to prevent the object that’s being fired from sticking to the foundation in the kiln. The individual colours cannot be mixed in powder form. They can only be layered by firing. It’s advisable to apply a transparent base (fondant) under some of the colours. It’s ideal to create a small sample book, especially for transparent enamels. Before enamelling, take a look at basic tutorials and videos about working with enamel. It’ll make your work easier. When working with enamel, don’t eat or drink.
