Product information

Emaux Soyer

A classic powder jewellery enamel, opaque, covering. It is applied as a paste onto a metal base (copper or silver, ACS) and, once dry, fired in a kiln at 750°C for approx. two to three minutes, depending on the size of the sheet. It is a good idea to glance briefly into the kiln, and once the enamel powder has turned into a smooth surface, it is done. Enamels can be fired repeatedly, in several layers. The back should have a counter-enamel (contremail) applied and fired first, which is why a trivet is used for subsequent firings, so the fired piece does not stick to the kiln shelf. Individual colours cannot be mixed as a powder. They can only be layered through firing. It is ideal to make a small sample chart, as you will see the exact colour of the enamel better than on a computer screen. Before enamelling, take a look at basic guides and videos on working with enamels. It will make the work easier for you. Do not eat food or drink beverages while working with enamel.
