Amazonite A can be found mainly in Russia. Other localities include Brazil, Madagascar and the USA.
Amazonite is naturally a gemstone with flat or angular faces. It usually has geometric shapes, most often cubic. It is widely believed that such shapes increase energy transfer and effects. The amazonite we offer is graded A, denoting a clear colour, purity and high quality of the stone. On the Mohs hardness scale it ranks between 6 and 6.5.
The history of amazonite dates back to ancient Egypt, where it was used to make statues, amulets and other objects. During the Renaissance, amazonite became very popular in Italy and France, where it was used to make luxury tableware and other decorative objects.

amazonite was named after the Amazon River in South America? Although no deposits of this stone are found near this river, it was probably named after it because its colour echoes the river's magnificent colour.
Thanks to its beautiful colour, amazonite is a very popular stone in jewellery-making, used to create elegant, tasteful rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces and other beautiful jewellery. It also makes wonderful amulets and talismans. It combines very nicely with rock crystal or amethyst. Amazonite also finds use as decoration on ornamental objects.
