Synthetic gold feldspar, i.e. gold feldspar of laboratory origin, is manufactured artificially from substances used in the production of glass and ceramics. Synthetic gold feldspar resembles the natural stone, but is much cheaper and easily available. On the Mohs hardness scale it corresponds to a rating of 6.

The history of gold feldspars reaches back to ancient Russia. They symbolised the beauty, wealth and power of the Russian tsar and nobility. In the 19th century it became very popular in Europe and America as a symbol of luxury and wealth. During this period, gold feldspars also became important for industrial use.
