It is said that it may support the expansion of consciousness, spiritual practice and access to higher planes of awareness. In alternative medicine it is reportedly used to support overall energy balance. It is said to support vitality and the body's regeneration. It is often associated with a sense of inner calm.

The history of shungite began a very long time ago. It was used in particular for building traditional Russian saunas known as "banyas", which have remarkable insulating properties. In the 18th century it was discovered by the scientific world and studied intensively. Its properties were examined. Later it became very popular in alternative medicine and jewellery-making.
