"Realise how you perceive yourself, listen to your inner self. Pink tourmaline is here for you."

Symbolism and healing properties of pink tourmaline:

Pink tourmaline (rose tourmaline) is associated with emotions, love and spiritual growth. It is regarded as a stone of love. It is said to open the heart, strengthen relationships and support the ability to love and be loved. Its colour is pink, in lighter or, conversely, richer shades. It can also resemble more of a strawberry or raspberry colour. It is traditionally linked with the Greek goddess of love and beauty Aphrodite. According to astrology, it is said to have healing effects in the area of emotional wounds and disappointments.

People also seek it out for its reportedly harmonising effects. It is said to bring balance between emotions and reason, and between different aspects of life, including one's own needs and those of others. In alternative medicine, this stone is widely used to support healthy sleep. It reportedly removes negative thoughts and replaces them with a positive self-perception, self-love and awareness of one's own worth. It is also often associated with spiritual growth and connection with higher consciousness. It is said to develop intuition, perceptiveness and the ability to listen to your inner self.

Pink tourmaline is suitable for these zodiac signs:

Taurus (21 April to 21 May), Cancer (22 June to 22 July), Libra (23 September to 23 October) and Scorpio (24 October to 22 November)

Localities, forms of pink tourmaline and history:

Pink tourmaline occurs at many localities around the world, though the most significant are Brazil, the USA, Madagascar, Nigeria and Mozambique.

In nature, pink tourmaline occurs in the form of long, cylindrical, prismatic crystals. They often have a columnar or needle-like shape. It can also be found in the form of massive aggregates and druses of various shapes and sizes. In any case, natural pink tourmaline is said to have very strong effects, which are used in many different fields. On the Mohs scale, its hardness is 7–7.5.

As for history, pink tourmaline was once confused with other gemstones, such as ruby or garnet. It was only in the 18th and 19th centuries that pink tourmaline came to be regarded as a mineral in its own right. In the 20th century it then became a very popular stone, increasingly favoured among people.

Did you know?

A very rare type of pink tourmaline called "Cuprian rubellite" was discovered relatively recently, in 2000, in Zimbabwe? What is remarkable about this discovery is the fact that it was previously believed such a type of tourmaline occurred only in Brazil.

What is pink tourmaline used for and what can you make from it?

Pink tourmaline is widely used for its delicate appearance, especially in jewellery-making, where it is used to create bracelets and necklaces of both simple and intricate designs. In rings, it may be a stand-alone setting of pink tourmaline or a combination of this stone with diamonds or other gemstones to create a truly unique design. Earrings or pendants are also made from pink tourmaline, many of which can function as a talisman thanks to their reported protective effects.

You can also make figurines, various decorative objects for interiors, daggers and knives, or a massage roller from it. There are no limits to your imagination.
