In seven decades, it expanded into more than 140 countries around the world, which made it one of the most distinguished world producers and exporters of Czech glass and jewellery industry. Preciosa, a. s. combines more than 6 companies, such as Preciosa - Chandeliers, Preciosa Beauty, Preciosa Ornela as well as the football club Slovan Liberec. The name Preciosa has its origin in the Latin adjective “precious” meaning valuable, exceptional or grand.

It has been coming up with innovations combining colours, shapes, sizes and crystal or glass components constantly for decades. It offers 800 colours of glass and on the worldwide market, it trades with 500 000 components.

Crystal Valley

Czech crystal was born here more than 3 centuries ago. The first faceted stone, the first majestic chandelier as well as the first crystal jewellery piece were all made from Czech crystal.

The first glassworks and the foundation of the company

Here, in the north, the first glassworks were built in the middle of the 16th century. In the 18th century, shaping and faceting glass was being developed and that shot Jablonec region into the word glassworking elite. Today’s form of the Preciosa company was established in 1948 and subsequently, during the 1990s, by merging several companies. Nowadays, it operates 14 factories in 9 Czech towns and employs around 4000 people.
