Localities, forms of citrine and history:

Brazil is the largest source of citrine. Other significant localities include Uruguay, Russia, France, Spain, Madagascar, Namibia and Zambia.

Citrine naturally forms hexagonal shapes of various sizes. It can sometimes have an unusual appearance. In any case, it is widely believed that natural citrine enhances energy transfer and has the strongest effects. On the Mohs hardness scale, it corresponds to 7.

The history of citrine dates back to ancient times, when it was used mainly as an amulet and talisman for its protective properties. In Greek mythology, it was regarded as a symbol of joy and light. In ancient Rome, citrine was very popular for its yellow colour, which symbolised the sun. European aristocracy, particularly the English and French, took a liking to citrine in the 17th and 18th centuries for making vases and candlesticks. Over time, it found its way into jewellery-making.

Did you know?

citrine was once used in ancient times for its protective properties against smallpox and malaria? People would hang so-called "Christian pox beads" around their neck or wrist, as citrine beads were also known, believing this would ward off these diseases. Today, citrine is used in industry, particularly for its excellent insulating properties and heat resistance, specifically in the manufacture of insulators, capacitors and transistors.

What is citrine used for and what can you make from it?

Thanks to its beautiful golden colour, citrine is often used in jewellery-making, where it replaces gold. It is used to make engagement rings or rings for special occasions, bracelets, citrine necklaces combined with gold and silver, as well as simple, timeless earrings. As for other uses, citrine can also be made into figurines and statuettes, which are very beautiful thanks to their radiant colour. But your imagination is the only limit.

Chakras associated with citrine:
