Glue-on stones are popular findings for embellishing or decorating various materials, most often fabrics. You can adjust your favorite t-shirt, dress or bag to your image.
There are two types of adhesive stones, namely flat back stones and round or fancy stones. In the case of round or fancy stones, keep in mind that it's necessary to use a bed of a suitable size. If you are cutting the holes in the material yourself, we recommend following the instructions in the manual directly from Preciosa, because the perfect angle and smoothness of the cut must be observed for a perfect result.
Stones glued by the no hotfix method (without the use of heat) can be washed in a washing machine at 40 °C, but it is not advisable to use a tumble dryer. The fabric with no hotfix stones with a flat back can be ironed, in which case set the iron to the wool ironing option.
The material onto which you will glue the stones should be dry and degreased. This stone application technique is especially suitable for non-absorbent materials.
There are several things to consider when choosing an adhesive - where we want to glue the stone, the size and shape of the stone as well as the suitability of the glue with regard to the material.
In short, a two-component epoxy adhesive or silicone adhesive is recommended for hard materials such as metal or glass, and a silicone or dispersion adhesive is recommended for more porous materials. E 6000 glue is suitable for jewellery. A complete table of suitable adhesives for different materials can be found in the manual on page 8.
In the case of gluing a chaton, it's also necessary to take into account how big the bed for the stone is. If it's larger than the stone, the use of a silicone-based (gel-based) adhesive is recommended. In case of a tight hole, use an epoxy-based adhesive instead.
Gluing the stone into the bed
Attention: It is necessary to pay attention to choosing the right bed that is designed for the stone. For example, Shaton and Rivoli are cut at a different angle, so the Rivoli bed will not fit the Rivoli bed (even in the case of the same stone size) and vice versa. If the stone is glued to a different bed than the one intended for it, the stone will probably not hold well.

If you don't have experience with this method, we recommend that you try the application on a small piece first.
