Guru bead is an important part of the popular Mala bracelets and necklaces. It is a connection of two beads through which the end of the Mala rosary goes and which is supposed to symbolise the relationship between a teacher and a student. That’s why it is usually made up of a bead and its cap. If it’s used for repeated prayers, it is considered rude to cross over this bead. Buddhists always turn the rosary around and start counting the prayers in the opposite direction.
